Tyrant Lizard King
Diet: Triceratops, Edmontosaurus, and other Cretaceous species

    Tyrannosaurus-Rex is probably the most well known dinosaur in the world. Discovered in 1905 by Barnum Brown, the Tyrant Lizard King has been terrifying and intriguing people around the world ever since. Standing 20 feet tall and weighing 7 tons, Tyrannosaurus-Rex was the largest predator of the Late Cretaceous.
    When it was first discovered, the T-Rex was put into an upright position. But, paleontologists soon realized that this posture would have dislocated the T-Rex’s hip bone. They then re-positioned it with a straight back. This position is yet to be disproved.
     The Tyrannosaurus-Rex had great senses. It was recently believed that the T-Rex’s vision was based on motion. But, this is not true. The T-Rex’s vision is just as good as ours. Besides, its nose would’ve made up for it. The nose of a T-Rex could smell a meal from miles away.
    Many scientists believe that the T-Rex was a scavenger. It was not very fast, because the femur is longer than the pelvis. Its arms couldn’t even come together; they were the size of a man’s. Plus, the teeth were designed for bone crunching, not flesh ripping. This is good evidence, except that these are the makings of an ambush-er. Some people think that it would have surprised its prey as opposed to chasing it.
    The original King of the Beasts has many mysteries that are yet to be solved. Maybe it wasn’t a hunter after all? Maybe it was a cunning creature like the fox, instead of the monster the world has learned to love. Whatever it turns out to be, we will always remember it as Tyrannosaurus-Rex, the Tyrant Lizard King.
